Home
Yes, I am home. I hung out in Anchorage for a few days and decided it would probably be best if I headed home. I was happy to return home and it felt like the right thing for me. I know I can always go back to Alaska! Thanks for the support and understanding! Who knows where things will go from here...

Change
Well everyone, some things have changed in my plans. After a lot of thinking during our kayak training, I have decided that working as a kayak guide in Alaska is not for me. There were many things that were very far out of my comfort zone. I thought a lot about my decision to leave and I feel this was in my best interest. I left Seward last night. I am in Anchorage now, trying to determine what I am going to do next.

And off we go!
Hello everyone!
I made it safely to Alaska late Tuesday night. I sat with a fun couple on the plane so that made the flight seem faster. My awesome friends Matt & Erin picked me up at the airport and let me stay with them. We had a great time getting caught up! Wednesday, I spent the day with them hanging out in Anchorage and had a pretty fun time. This morning we got up early and headed down to Seward. Along the way we saw some moose and bald eagles and we even drove through some snow. It is a little chilly, windy, and rainy here in Seward.
We arrived at Sunny Cove and I was welcomed by the staff. I got a quick tour and began unpacking my things. We will be living in a yurt but there is a cabin for cooking, showering, and hanging out. It took a little while to get my things unpacked and figure where I wanted them. I am sure I will reorganize a few times to find a system that works the best.
I wanted to send out an update while I could. I am not sure how much I will be able to update and I will try to get some pictures loaded of where I am staying. Training starts tomorrow so I am sure I will be pretty busy learning a lot of things over the next couple weeks. I will update when I can!
Thanks for checking in :)

Tomorrow is the day!
I leave tomorrow! I can't believe the day is finally here. I am pretty well packed (I think!). Hopefully I have what I need, but if not, I can buy it once I get there. I will be arriving in Anchorage tomorrow night. I will spend Wednesday with some friends hanging out in Anchorage before heading down to Seward on Thursday. I can get settled into housing on Thursday and training starts Friday!
I will update you again once I get to Alaska!!

It is getting close
Well, time is flying by! Less than two weeks until I leave for Alaska.
Hopefully by now I have most of the clothing and gear I will need. Now, I have to work on figuring out how to pack it all. (If you have any tips on packing for four months -let me know!)
I have a lot of great gear and some new gear from many good companies. I will be putting it all to the test this summer. I will keep you all in the loop as to what I am wearing, using, and eating while in Alaska. I am also going to be reviewing the products for the companies. Please let me know if you have any questions about the products, or if there are any that you think I should check out.
Thanks for checking out my page and following me on my adventure. Please share this website with others who may be interested in following along.

Preview of the summer
Kayaking in Alaska, May 2008
I will be heading back to Alaska in about four weeks. I am very excited to spend my summer kayaking and taking in the beautiful scenery. I will be spending four months working as a kayak guide out of Seward. I will try my best to keep everyone updated and share stories and pictures from my adventure!
I just wanted to get this blog rolling. More information to come later. :)
